Watch The Film Festival Movies ONLINE

The Youth Tube Film Festival Movies have now been uploaded to inspire, the City Learning Centre's creative learning resource. There will be a week of testing then on Friday 30th May the ratings will be zeroed to open the official Film festival voting which will continue until the last week in August allowing plenty of time for everyone to view the movies and vote. Follow the links on our homepage and have a preview before the official voting date.

Brent Youth Tube Film Festival 2008

The Film festival this year was a resounding success. The Primary day was fully booked and over subscribed. The Secondary day was atmospheric, well attended and launched by ‘Bashy’ introducing the screening with a live performance of his controversial hit which encourages young people to be proud of who they are and aim high in life. The standard of film making this year was amazing with a positive and thoughtful treatment of some controversial topics. The dual language films produced in association with Brent’s school improvement services added a new dimension to the event. There has been some amazing feedback from the participants and audience. It’s evident from the freshness of the work that the films have been very much student led, using the skills obtained from the CLCTV training programme and support from CLC staff. All of the films will be uploaded to our websites Creative learning resources portal 'Inspire' over half term. Visitors to Inspire will be able to view the films and rate them. Participants in byt2008 will be informed through their teachers when they can vote. The films and voting facility are undergoing testing and design modifications, any present ratings are for testing purposes and will be zero'd once it is officially active.
We are hoping to offer the winners in both sections (Primary and Secondary) an opportunity to carry out a supported project of their choice funded by the CLC.
The evaluation returns from teachers is proving invaluable and we are receiving some important constructive feedback which will be implemented to make improvements in next years festival.

Primary post SAT's enrichment activities

Preston Manor City learning Centre is pleased to offer Brent primary schools a series of post SAT's enrichment workshops. The aims of all the workshops: 1 use digital technology creatively within a focussed curriculum context relevant to mainstream classroom learning. 2 creative learning with a sense of purpose and value. 3 have fun and motivate students through non school like activities. 4 produce a product which reflects the learning processes and acts as a stimulus and inspiration to others. 5 act as a creative transition for year 6 into year 7 These pilot workshops will be evaluated and used as an evolving model embracing a wide range of digital technologies, methods and strategies which can be applied to other curriculum areas. Resources will be produced to facilitate future outreach sessions offsite to prepare students in advance so that their time at the CLC is spent using the technology.
