Wembley Project

The biggest thing in Brent is the new Wembley Stadium. We have all seen it growing from the remains of the old stadium. The raising of the spectacular arch last autumn was a huge event, and for school students in Brent it is the symbol of the new Wembley, which includes so much more: complete redevelopment of tube stations at Wembley Park and Wembley Stadium and future Intercity and Eurostar links; the disappearance of the old Chalkhill estate and new building everywhere; a new beginning for Wembley High Road; the prospect of more leisure and employment facilities as the old warehouses are replaced with hotels, nightclubs, bingo halls...

A group of year 7 & 8 students from Preston Manor and Alperton Schools have been investigating the changes, and their songs convey the air of excitement and a sense of pride in their local area.
