in collaboration with the BBC's Robot wars

Family building Robot Days developed local families' control technology, computer programming and collaborative skills. This course ran over four Saturday mornings and ended with a BBC Robot from Robot Wars coming in and a race around the maze with all the robots.

A Robot is a machine which is designed to carry out jobs normally done by people. Most Robots are designed to do a particular job in industry which is repetitive and boring for human workers.
Industrial Robots are controled by a Computer and fixed to one spot, they have no artificial intelligence.

More Robots are being designed which are 'intelligent', they are equipped with sensors which enable them to 'see' and 'sense' things. This allows them to respond to changes around them and appear to make decisions like people.
