Art Exam preparation
Raising achievement at GCSE
Spring 2004

Activity

Students from Cardinal Hinsley, Queens Park and Preston Manor spent a day at the Centre working through this years exam theme - Safely Contained and more specifically (Memories). The objective was to give 'B' students an extra push in order to achieve an 'A'. They studied the work of artists both digital and non that explored similar themes and looked at the processes they used. Students were asked to bring paraphernalia related to their own memories and then brainstormed ideas and ways to present this using digital media. They used Photoshop, digital cameras, scanners and the internet to produce a piece of printed and virtual piece of art. The project, a SOW and the artwork is showcased on the CLC website.

Memories showcase

We have also been working closely with Preston Manor GCSE classes to ensure that each student had the opportunity to include Digital Art in their artmaking regime. We used the triad model - Taking the first lesson for teachers, supporting them the next and then allowing the teachers to take full controll (with support from Trish where necessary) for the remaining lessons.
