Cubasis songwriting
Music KS2/KS3
Winter/Spring 2003 - 2004
Activity
This is a more advanced project, using software which uses a cut-down, user-friendly version of the industry standard composing package Cubase. It is best suited to year 6 or 7 pupils.
Outcomes
1. Learn how to create and and record a beat, and copy/vary it to make
a longer drumtrack.
2. Add melodic and/or other parts, either using pre-existing
patterns, or (more advanced pupils) by composing their ideas using a keyboard.
In a second 2-hour session they would be able to:
1. Revise and add to previous work and:
2. Learn about using contrast and repetition to create a simple
structure
3. Add a contrasting section to their piece
4. Learn about a range of instrumental sounds and (more advanced)
effects to make a finished version of the piece.
Participants:
Sudbury Primary year 6 and Preston Manor Science College year 7
