Sitting down with good posture

Computer area:
Keep your computer area organized. Items that you use frequently should be close to you. Do not eat or drink near your computer. Crumbs can fall and jam the keyboard and drinks can spill causing damage. Avoid stuffing things under the desk so you can stretch your legs.

Sitting down with good posture:
When you go to sit, aim your buttocks for where the back of the chair and the seat meet. Sit up straight and try to keep you hips and shoulders and head in a straight line. Your feet should touch the floor, If It does not, adjust the height of the chair.

Support the lumbar area:
Make sure you have the lower back supported to help maintain the lumbar curve. You may have to adjust the back of the chair to tilt it forward for more support., you can also use a cushion behind your back if necessary.

Use wrists supports at the keyboard and with the mouse:
Proper support of the wrists is important to avoid excessive stress in the wrist muscles. The keyboard should not be placed to near the edge of the desk. Arms should be relaxed and at about a 90° angle. If the keyboard is too low you can adjust the height..

Use a document holder:
Using a document holder near the monitor will help keep your head in a neutral position and avoid awkward straining.

Lighting:
You may experience screen glare on your monitor. This can be avoided by adjusting the background lighting and using window blinds. It is possible to get anti-glare filters to fit over your monitor.

Equipment Safety:
Ensure power cable and leads are out of the way so that they can not be tripped over. Do not pile things on top of the computer as it could block the air ducts and cause it to overheat. Power sockets should not be overloaded.

Take breaks and shift your position:
Having mini-breaks with gentle stretching and exercise can make a big difference in how you feel and can aid concentration and relieve eye strain. It is also important to work in a well ventilated room, it is good for the computer and it is important to have good air supply.
