Primary School Workshops

Bioscape plants - Students explore the structure and function of flowering plants through the medium of digital art and audio. They produce a series of creative compositions around the theme of plants as living organisms. The completed audio and artwork will be used to create a podcast thereby providing a useful learning resource. This workshop is delivered by centre staff and requires one full day.

Bioscape Living Things & Life Processes - Students explore the differences between living and non living things. They produce a series of creative digital art and audio compositions around the theme of the seven life processes. The completed audio and artwork will be used to create a podcast thereby providing a useful learning resource. This workshop is delivered by centre staff and requires one full day.

Bioscape Minibeasts - These workshops take place at the Welsh Harp. Students explore minibeast habitats and collect specimens by tree beating, grass sweeping and pond dipping for closer examination under a microscope. Students will generate a list of their findings to create databases and charts. They will also film and take photos of their minibeasts. We will film their audio statements Hollywood style, in front of a blue screen. CLC staff will then edit all the footage to produce a short film, making a useful learning resource. This workshop is delivered by staff from the Welsh Harp and the CLC and requires one full day.

Kar2ouche - Creative story telling through the use of 3D characters, props, backgrounds, animation and sound effects.

Digital Storytelling - Use Power Point's custom animation facilities to create interactive stories. Draw and design characters and incorporate audio.

CLCTV - Lights! Camera! Action! Turn that story into a movie, learn how to storyboard, shoot and edit like a professional. Why not use Chroma Key for special dynamic effects. Suitable for creating a short film.

Stop Motion Animation - Students can bring characters to life by creating and animating models in a simple, fun and engaging way.

Persuasive Media - Sell sell sell. Learn the art of advertising. Create a brand then produce the Magazine, TV and Radio advert.

Kar2ouche - Import your own backgrounds and transport an alien back in time to King Henry VIII the Romans or the Great Fire of London. Save as animation or print with a comic layout.

Digital Storytelling - Create an interactive presentation. Compare toys today with those from the past. Incorporate music and sound effects.

CLCTV - History comes to the big screen. Using our Blue Screen technology students can transport themselves back in time to the street of London. Learn how to plan, shoot and edit your movie like a professional.

Stop Motion Animation - Create the ancient pyramids, build a Viking ship. Characters and objects come to life in a fun and easy way.

Persuasive Media - Blackpool Tower? what about the Lido? Create a beach holiday poster, a radio or TV advert to relive a bygone era.

Creative Audio - Live and On Air! Get students to interview mums, dads, grandparents, officials to talk about what life was like when they were young.

Photoshop Fun - Create landscapes of people and places, climates and continents using this professional image editing program. Use the artwork produced as posters, backdrops in video and other programs like Kar2ouche or PowerPoint.

Podcasting - With a bit of creative audio and visuals students can create a 'Wish you Were Here' travel program for each country visited.

CLCTV - Become a weather presenter, foreign correspondent. Compare environments, even stand on the edge of a volcano using state of the art Chroma Key technology.

Persuasive Media - Say no to climate change, put a stop to Global Warming, what can you do to protect the environment bring these issues to the attention of the public by creating a magazine, radio and or TV advert.

Stop Motion Animation - Simulate hot molten lava flowing down an active volcano, high street traffic and characters from other continents using the fun and easy to use program.

Photoshop Fun - Create a self portrait made from fruit and vegetables. Take digital photos and add special visual effects. Scan and create montages of family members, or become a celebrity on a magazine cover. Film poster or a famous singer on a CD cover.

Podcasting - With a bit of creative audio using voice and sound effects and visuals created in Photoshop, students can create a podcast about famous works of art.

CLCTV - Step into a famous painting or stand on top of a sculpture using state of the art Chroma Key technology. Learn professional film and video techniques then film an art show.

Persuasive Media - Sell! Sell! Sell! Design artwork and a logo for a new brand of trainers, chocolates or healthy sweets.

Kar2ouche - Address Social issues such as bullying and relationships with 3D poseable characters, a variety of background and props. This program encourages self expression. You can save as an animated movie or print comic style.

Digital Storytelling - Good choice, bad choice, create a digital interactive story with two possible endings.

CLCTV - Turn your role play into a movie. Report from a crime scene or news desk. Learn how to storyboard, shoot and edit film as well as Chroma Key for special dynamic effects.

Data Logging - This workshop supports the science curriculum through hands on activities and investigations using light, sound and temperature. Students will produce, analyse and download graphs of their findings.
